Relocating a company is a costly and time consuming process, but like everything in business, it is worth it if it will directly or indirectly lead to more profits and more opportunities in the future. While you may be putting off moving your organization then, there are many good reasons to consider doing so anyway.
Here we will look at some of the most compelling.
More Space
Depending on the nature of your company, you may find that having more space is incredibly valuable. This might mean that you are better able to get on with your work without feeling cramped or claustrophobic, or it might even mean that you are able to hire more members of your team and thus start working faster and more efficiently as a result. More space can also be good even if you have the same number of staff and don’t have any problems with room – it suggests success, helps people to relax and in general will reflect well on your organization.
Easier Access
Another very good reason to move a company is so that you can gain easier access in future. This is something that your staff will likely thank you for if they currently have to travel a long way to get to your office/site, so consider moving somewhere with better transport links or that has easier parking. Alternatively you cans imply move nearer to your staff. What this will translate as for you is more staff arriving on time and fewer pulling sickies. It will also mean that they can run home quickly if they need to in order to get things they may have forgotten or continue working if you have a power outage.
Access can also mean access as in how easy it is to get up the stairs which can make a big difference when you have to get a large delivery of papers up the stairs for instance, or when you have a client come to visit who has mobility issues.
Better Amenities
The amenities in the surrounding area where you work can also have a big impact on your business in a number of ways. For one it means that your staff will have more options of where to go for lunch, and this in turn will probably keep them happier working for you, but at the same time it can also mean you’re more easily able to get milk for your kitchen and your morning coffees and that you’ll have more options when it comes to entertaining clients or customers. All of this can make a big difference!
Better Facilities
Moving to a new office or work site might also afford you more facilities that your business could use. Perhaps that means moving somewhere that provides you with extra storage for keeping your supplies and materials, or perhaps it just means moving somewhere with two toilets so that your staff aren’t queuing to go all the time. Alternatively it might be that you need specific facilities that your current place doesn’t offer – which may mean a lab for instance, or a room where you can control the atmospheric conditions.

This isn’t a highly important reason, and perhaps not enough of a reason to move on its own, but it’s certainly an additional thing to add to the list. Moving somewhere with an inspiring view can have a great impact on your staff and on your visitors and can generally elevate the mood in your workplace and enhance productivity.
Reputation
Different areas have different reputations and this is something you need to consider when handing out business cards or otherwise broadcasting where your place of work is. If you currently work in an area that isn’t well thought of then this will damage your reputation, whereas working right in the centre of a large city can make you seem more professional.
Cost
Finally you of course need to consider cost. Hopefully your business will be going up in the world and that will mean moving into a better location that possible costs more – but in some cases you will move to try and cut overheads and that is a very good incentive to go ahead with the relocation.
